Beskrivelse
The nature reserve protects a hundred-year-old mixed coniferous forest in wild and boulder-rich terrain. The forest has been untouched for generations and is a haven for plants and animals that are sensitive to disturbance.
Coniferous forest
The terrain in the area is hilly with wooded heights and depressions with swamp forest. Conifers dominate, but there are also plenty of coarse aspen and birch as well as other deciduous trees. In the southwest there is a thicket of hazel. The forest in the reserve has not been farmed for a long time and is therefore valuable for a number of disturbance-sensitive animals, plants and fungi that do not survive in managed forests.
Dead trees give new life
The forest is full of stumps, dry trees and fallen tree trunks. The decaying wood is vital for a number of beetles, fungi, mosses and lichens. For example, unusual species such as green shield moss and wood ticks grow on decaying, moss-covered tree trunks. The insect-rich wood is also valuable for woodpeckers and other birds that feed on small insects.
Blocks from the ice age
At the end of the Ice Age, the area was covered by so-called dead ice that had broken off from the great ice sheet. Dead ice does not move and therefore cannot transport material like active ice sheets. Therefore, large rocks and boulders remained in the area when the dead ice melted. The blocky terrain is the reason why the forest is untouched and the land has not been cultivated to the same extent as in the surrounding area.

Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Drive a motorized vehicle off designated roads or trails.
- Park a motor vehicle, caravan or trailer.
- Bring a dog or other animal that is not on a leash.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or similar device or make inscriptions.
- Build a fire.
- Digging, pulling up or picking plants or plant parts. You may pick berries and edible mushrooms.
- Damage or remove trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or reeds that are growing or dead.
After consultation with the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Collect insects.
- Conduct survey or research.
- Carry out commercial activities.
Full regulations
C. Regulations according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code on the right to travel and stay in the reserve and on order in general.
In addition to what otherwise applies, it is prohibited to:
- drive any kind of vehicle other than on existing roads.
- set up motor vehicles, caravans or trailers
- bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or similar device or make an inscription.
- Making a fire.
- digging up, picking or damaging plants or parts of plants except berries and mushrooms for domestic use
- Damage or remove growing or dead trees, stumps, bark, branches, shrubs or brushwood.
- Without consultation with the County Administrative Board, carry out collection, investigation or research.
- Without consultation with the County Administrative Board, lease or use the area for commercial use of the right of public access.
Regulations 1, 3, and 5 under C, according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code, do not apply to landowners and holders of special rights.
