Uddarna is the last outpost before the barren outer archipelago takes over. The rocky areas with pine forests that dominate nature are also barren. But there are also lush valleys with rich flora in spring. In this varied nature, a number of rare species find refuge.
Explore the reserves
The two nature reserves Hulöhamn and Vindåsen are located on two mountain ridges separated by Båtsviken. From the mountain tops you have a fantastic view of the Tjust archipelago. The reserves have marked trails that take you through the varied nature, through pine forests and oak woodlands and across beach meadows. The trail in Hulöhamn is about 3.8 km long and the one in Vindåsen is about 2.1 km.
Sparse pine forests
The nature of the reserve is dominated by rocky areas with sparse pine forests. The lean soils are mainly home to lichens, rice, mosses and a few herbs. Look out for the rare lingonberry, a rice that is green all year round. It resembles lingonberry but has long narrow leaves with serrated edges. It grows in sparse pine forests, where the sun's rays reach the ground. Other unusual species in the outcrops are the Apollo butterfly and the pine thistle.
Flower- and insect-rich soils
On some of the heights, the soil is a little richer, with oak and hazel growing here. Some of the oaks are really old and home to unusual beetles such as the oak ox. Cornflower, cowslip and the orchid Adam and Eve are examples of plants you can see in the deciduous groves. In the grazed valleys, the vegetation is different, with light-loving herbs and grasses such as sedge, maidenhair, cat's-foot and sundew. Many different butterflies fly over the flowery fields in summer, including the rare Apollo butterfly.

About 1 km east of Loftahammar there is a road towards Källvik. From there a signposted road goes north towards Flatvarp. After about 4 km on that road you turn right towards Hulöhamn. It is then about 4 km to the reserve's parking lot. There is a picnic table at the parking lot. A marked trail runs through both reserves in a loop back to the parking lot.
Regler
In Hulöhamn nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Damage or remove growing trees or bushes.
- Hunt, kill, capture or harm wild mammals, birds or their young.
- remove or damage eggs or nests
- Deliberately disturbing wildlife.
- Damage or remove any fencing (e.g. fences or barriers).
- Bringing dogs that are not on a leash.
- Camping or setting up a caravan.
- Mooring a boat in the same place for more than 24 hours.
- Driving a motorized vehicle off designated roads or paths.
- Park in places other than designated parking lots.
- Disturbing the environment with loud noises such as music, video or radio.
In Vindåsen nature reserve you may not:
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Damage or remove growing trees or bushes.
- Damage or remove fencing (for example, fences or fences).
- Bringing dogs that are not on a leash.
- Camping, pitching a caravan or mooring a boat in a place other than designated areas.
- Driving a motorized vehicle off designated roads or paths.
- Park in places other than designated parking lots.
- Disturbing the environment with loud noises such as music, video or radio.

C. Regulations according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code on the right to travel and stay in the reserve and on order in general.
In addition to what is prescribed by law and regulation, the public shall be prohibited from
- damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations;
- damage or remove growing trees or bushes
- hunt, kill, capture or injure wild mammals or birds or their young, remove or damage eggs or nests or otherwise disturb wildlife
- damage or remove existing fencing
- bring an unleashed dog
- camping or setting up a caravan
- moor a boat for more than one day
- drive motorized vehicles elsewhere than on designated roads;
- park vehicles in places other than those designated for the purpose; and
- use a radio, gramophone, tape recorder or similar in a disruptive manner.

It is forbidden to
- damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations

- camp, pitch a caravan or moor a boat elsewhere than in specially designated places
- drive motorized vehicles elsewhere than on designated roads
- park vehicles elsewhere than in designated places; and
- use TV, radio, gramophone, tape recorder or similar in a disruptive manner.
