Beskrivelse

**Casimir Castle is a unique area with an unbroken time axis from the Stone Age and Bronze Age through the Middle Ages and the Empire to today.

It is located south of Gamleby at Gamlebyviken. Here you will find the castle, built in 1829, in stylish Tjustempire, with its many painted original floors and wallpaper. Parts of a castle (stone house) from the 14th century are built into the house, containing, among other things, a dungeon. The manor house dates from the 17th century. In front of the castle is Sjöpaviljongen, classified by the National Heritage Board as a national interest.

The main building contains a parade floor with a large salon of about 100 square meters. The Gothic Revival chapel is Sweden's second environment in this style. In 1809 the manor burned down and in 1829 architect Uppman and master builder Jonsson built the current castle on behalf of Sophie and Gustaf Lewenhaupt. After Sophie's death in 1850, the estate left the Lewenhaupt family.

Private tours of the Bronze Age site and castle are available all year round. In summer and on special holidays, public open tours are organized, see the website, but advance registration is required. It is also possible to take your own tour with a tablet.
