Högatorp, Döderhultarns födelseby

Högatorp is where the artist Axel Pettersson, known as "Döderhultarn," was born in 1868 and lived with his family for about 20 years. His father, the farmer and juror Per August Pettersson, owned both Högatorp and the neighboring farm Eckerhult. Högatorp has a long history and can be traced back in land records as early as the mid-1500s. Several old buildings from that time still stand today. The oldest of them is a cottage from the late 1860s.
