Sommen

Sommen is a popular destination for swimming, fishing, boating and canoeing and offers outdoor activities and nature with high values. Bird life is rich, including ospreys, oystercatchers, guillemots, little auks, skylarks and herons (colony). Otters occur in the area. Autumn long-tailed duck, water crowfoot, calamus, flower reed, brown sedge, club sedge, curly-leaf pondweed, mud crab, water scorpionfish and cross-leaved sandwort grow in and around the lake. The macroalga Nostoc pruniformis occurs in the lake. Fish species include eel, lake trout, char, whitefish, vendace, dace, pike, minnow, roach, burbot, perch, tench, pike-perch, zander, bream, bream, rudd, rock salmon, grayling, small pickerel and shiners.
