Beskrivelse
Kungsäter's old church, today a church ruin, was built in the 12th century. It was a rectangular nave with a three-sided ending in the east. The grey stone walls were one and a half meters thick and the church was more than twenty meters long. There was a belfry that was toppled by the severe Christmas storm of 1638. The two church bells were also smashed. Later, a new wooden tower was built with a church bell that has rung over the village since 1693, now from the octagonal new church tower. The last service was held on the fourth Sunday of Advent in 1879 and the new church was opened two years later.
This ancient monument is part of the Kungsjö trails built and maintained by Kungsäter-Gunnarsjö Bygdelag.
