Beskrivelse
Hovgård is an old gravel pit that has been transformed over time into a valuable sandy soil environment with sunlit slopes and sandy patches. A paradise for animals that seek sun, warmth, abundant flowers and good environments for nesting in sand.
The land is quite overgrown and there are no paths or marked routes in the reserve today. The goal is to clear and uproot the overgrowth over time. In the southwest corner of the reserve there is a burial ground with standing stones, stone circles and burial mounds. They are located under wide-crowned oaks with a beautiful view of Varbergsslätten.

Rutevejledning
Bus: The bus stop "Hovgård" is located about 700 meters west of the parking lot. Car: Hovgård nature reserve is located just east of Rolfstorp along road 153. The reserve is located just south as the nature reserve Gässlösa. The easiest way to reach Hovgård Nature Reserve is to park at Gässlösa Nature Reserve's parking lot and walk across road 153 to Hovgård Nature Reserve.
Regler
To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.
In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:
- Damage living or dead standing or lying trees and bushes,
- damaging, picking or collecting plants. However, picking berries, edible mushrooms and individual specimens of vascular plants is permitted provided that the species are not protected,
- use traps that catch and/or kill invertebrates without the permission of the county administrative board
- planting/introducing species alien to the area,
- organize camps or competitions without the permission of the county administrative board
- set up or park a caravan or motorhome in the reserve between 24:00 and 06:00,
- make fires,
- put up a board, poster, sign or make an inscription,
- drive a motorized vehicle other than on a road or park other than in a designated place,
- bring an unleashed dog, and
- without the permission of the county administrative board, conduct scientific research that contravenes the regulations.
