Beskrivelse
Enet is located along a stretch of coastline with valuable nature. The shingle fields and rocky outcrops in the reserve attract many visitors every year. The grazed coastal heath is home to a rich flora and the scrublands are home to many species of small birds.
The grazed coastal meadows have a rich flora that is dependent on grazing. Many low-growing plants would be outcompeted if the grazing animals disappeared. Many plants also benefit from the patches of soil created when animals trample the land.
Blackberries and rose hips
A little way inland, the coastal meadow turns into lean grassland where windswept junipers form a mosaic-like environment together with blackberries and rose hips. Between the bushes, in the sunlit glades, grow species such as sedge, haymaking, creeping thyme, moorland sedge, cat's foot and sedge grass, and on the salt meadows there is coastal arum. To preserve the valuable flora, the bushes are occasionally cleared. This creates more grassy areas where animals can graze.
Exclusive plants
There is also interesting flora in the damp areas. Where the Ävjan stream flows into the sea, for example, spikeleaf grows. The rare coastal gentian and the orchid night violet are also found in the reserve. In the south-eastern part there is a low-growing birch forest. The exposed location with constant wind has shaped the forest and the trunks are low and winding.
Watch birds
The yellowhammer is often seen sitting at the top of a juniper bush where it sings its "seven-syllable" song. Stonechats hop around on the well-preserved stone walls, waving their tails up and down like the corn bunting. The shrike hunts for insects in the bushes, impaling its prey on thorns and spines. Typical seabirds such as eider, oystercatcher and greater sandpiper can be seen in the shallow bay and on the meadows. During the fall and spring, a large number of migratory birds also pass along the coast of Halland and rest on the well-kept coastal meadows.
