Beskrivelse
Åkullaboket is a beautiful beech forest reserve in the heart of Åkulla beech forests. The reserve has high experiential values for those interested in nature, but also for those interested in the cultural environment and outdoor life.
The area consists, among other things, of old beech forest with fine and easily accessible hiking trails. This makes it easy for everyone to get out and enjoy the beech forest during spring, summer and fall. In winter, however, when there is snow on the ski trails, access is limited in the southern part of the reserve. However, the other trails in the northern part are always accessible. There are two barbecue areas in the middle of the reserve. A cultural trail also starts here, which takes you around the reserve all year round.
The forest was more open in the past
There are old pasture oaks that indicate that the forest in some places was much more open than it is today and that there were grazing animals in the area.
Exciting species and environments
You can find exciting species such as barnacle lichen, mussel lichen, beech spring lichen, flat feather moss, blood fungus, chanterelle mussel and many more if you keep your eyes open. You can also find exciting ancient remains in the form of a wolf pit, a fen, cairns and an old wicker arrow plantation. A 1.8 km long cultural trail with information signs leads you past the remains. If you visit Åkullaboket in winter, you can rent a pair of skis and ski through parts of the area.

Regler
To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.
In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:
- damage living or dead trees, bushes and branches,
- damage, pick or collect mosses, lichens or fungi other than single specimens. The prohibition does not apply to the picking of edible mushrooms,
- setting up a caravan or motorhome in the reserve,
- put up a board, poster, sign, signpost or make an inscription,
- drive a motorized vehicle other than on a road or park other than in a designated place,
- have a dog unleashed,
- cycling other than on marked cycle paths and existing roads,
- make a fire other than in a designated place.
- use traps that kill invertebrates without the permission of the County Administrative Board,
- planting species alien to the area without the permission of the County Administrative Board, and
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, organize camps, competitions or other events that may disturb wildlife or cause soil wear
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, carry out surveys that involve marking, collecting, trapping or other impact on the natural environment
