Beskrivelse

Hall-Hangvar is a nature reserve covering almost 30 square kilometers, stretching from Irevik in the south to Kappelshamnsviken in the northeast. Here you can walk along the beautiful coastline, go on botanical walks or watch birds.

Hall-Hangvar nature reserve is predominantly occupied by pine forest, a forest that is often heavily characterized by grazing and older times of felling in the form of picking. Especially in the southern part of the reserve, the soil cover is thin, and the forest here consists largely of a sparse and low-growing rocky pine forest. In the vicinity of Verkmyr and Stigmyr, for example, there are large areas of open, almost completely treeless rocky ground.

Between the northern part of Irevik and Häftingsklint, a steep cliff, up to 30 meters high, rises just inside the beach. About 500 meters north of Häftingsklint, this coastal cliff divides into two ledges, the lower of which continues along the shore, while the upper one curves inland while becoming increasingly flat. It is not until Hallshuk that the coastal cliff again reaches a height of over 25 meters.

The reserve is relatively rich in wetlands of various kinds. In the larger ones, Verkmyr and Stigmyr, the vegetation is often dominated by ag and tall sedges, while many of the smaller wetlands have the character of vegetation-poor bleaching wetlands, which dry out completely during the summer. In many places below the cliffs, including southwest of Harudden, groundwater seepage has given rise to botanically rich spring marshes and calcareous wet meadows.

Although large parts of the reserve give a barren impression, a number of unusual plants can be found here, including orchids such as red wood lily, salep root, alpine keys, swamp keys and yellow axe, beach cabbage, brown eye thrush (in the spring marshes), sword thistle and Gotland sunflower.
