Beskrivelse
Ålarve nature reserve very close to Ronehamn is a lovely walking area along beach meadows by the sea. Perfect for those with prams or wheelchairs. Don't forget your binoculars and picnic basket!
The coastline at Ålarve is unusually indented, and close to the sea, flat, low-lying and sheep-grazed beach meadows spread out. The southwestern part of the reserve is covered with a low-growing beach pine forest.
The vegetation on the coastal meadows is completely dominated by trift, which can color the coastal meadow pink when it blooms in early summer. Other common shore meadow plants are beach wormwood, yellow campion, beach creeper, reef fingerwort and goosegrass. Inside the bays, sedges and bladderworts grow.
There is a rich bird life in the salt meadows. Breeding species include herring gulls, sandwich terns and little terns, as well as waders such as oystercatchers, redshanks, oystercatchers, lapwings, greater sandpipers and avocets. A bit off the beach are five smaller skerries, of which Getorskär is the largest. Cormorants, graylag geese and barnacle geese nest on Getorskär, and there is also a greylag gull colony here.
The tall hake (sea mark) that stands on the easternmost part of Getorskär was erected in 1858 and was originally used as a navigation mark for the sailing ships that docked at Ronehamn. At the southern tip of Langård stands another hake from the same period. The hake is still used as a landmark, but nowadays mostly for fishing along the coast.
Ålarve nature reserve has been prepared with a footpath so that visitors with disabilities or those with prams can enjoy the area's nature. There is also a viewpoint with a ramp.
