Beskrivelse
Stora Bolleberget is a very popular outdoor recreation area located near the town of Bollnäs. There is a trail system and a well-developed network of paths and shelters, managed by Bollnäs municipality. The mountain's magnificent northeastern slope is the southernmost site in the country for the mountain saxifrage.
The area is located 4 km northwest of Bollnäs and covers 99 ha. Stora Bolleberget's northeastern slope consists of granite and has long been known as a very steep area of natural forest.
The slope contains old pine trees, some over 200 years old, and generally with flames and dry branches. The red-listed species of candelabra fungus, border thistle and rose thistle grow here. The slope is also the country's southernmost site for the mountain bracken.
