Söderhamns Stadsmuseum

The town of Söderhamn was founded in 1620 by King Gustav II Adolf. At the same time, the Söderhamn Rifle Factory was established. Take a part of Söderhamn's history by visiting the old rifle factory's drill house, built in 1748 - the building that today is Söderhamn's museum.

The museum has been operating here since 1915. The first initiative to create a museum in Söderhamn was taken by master builder Anders Nisser in 1910. The museum is housed in the beautiful old drill house from 1748, which together with the armoury are the only buildings that remain of the rifle factory that was the reason for the founding of the city. The museum has a permanent exhibition depicting the history of the town.
