Rådhusparken

**Ask a Söderhamn resident to name a beautiful park and most will say Rådhusparken. The apple of Söderhamn's eye is located between the Town Hall and the church Ulrika Eleonora, and is passed by everyone who drives in from the E4 towards central Söderhamn.

In the middle of the park, the fountain bubbles and throws its small sparkling jets. The approximately 100 m² planting area is adorned with 5,000 annual summer flowers. Several of the city's old pedigree fuchsia trees have a place of honor in the park. The park's fourteen large forest lindens (Tilia cordata) have roots from the turn of the 18th/19th century and protect the park from the surrounding streets.

**THE NATHAN SCULPTURE
Two beautiful horse chestnuts (Aesculus hippocasanum) stretch out their mighty, protective foliage over Thomas Qvarsebo's sculpture of Nathan Söderblom standing in a church doorway.Nathan Söderblom was born in 1866 in Trönö, became Swedish archbishop in 1914 and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1930. The sculpture, made of corten steel, shows Nathan in life size and is about three meters high. The word 'Peace' is inscribed on the church door in various languages. The sculpture was erected in 2001.
