Hemlingby friluftsområde

Welcome to a green oasis in Gävle, which is white in winter! Hemlingby friluftsområde is Gävle's largest recreational area and is located in a large nature reserve just over three kilometers south of Gävle center. Here you will find, among other things, Hemlingbybacken with snow park, exercise tracks and ski tracks of various lengths, a mountain bike track, barbecue areas, picnic huts, team tracks, a nature trail and Hemlingbystugan with restaurant and café.

Hemlingby outdoor area has all the opportunities for active leisure and offers a wide range of activities for young and old.

For those who want to go for a walk, run a round or just stroll around, there are several exercise trails of different lengths to choose from and a nature trail. The exercise trails and nature trail run through various natural environments, ranging from deep forest to herb meadows and open landscapes. During the winter months, there are also ski trails in the area.

If you are more interested in a sweatier workout, there is an outdoor gym at the trail center with exercise equipment for the whole body. The area also has a training circuit, Hemlingbyrundan, for all ages, which runs along the 2 km track and is equipped with ten different stations where you as a visitor can train your body with the help of a bench and your own body.

Hemlingby outdoor area also offers activities for the more adventurous. Here you can try cycling in Hemlingby's MTB technical course during the summer months or during the winter months feel the adrenaline when you go downhill in Hemlingbybacken with snow park.

For children, there is a large forest, children's culture trail, do not touch the ground, sledding hill, ski track and skating rink. There is also Snärten the horse, who offers rides and sometimes works in the forest. There are also other animals in the area that you can get to know, such as rabbits, chickens and sheep.

For those who are hungry for something good, there is Hemlingbystugan's restaurant and café. Here you can both eat and have a coffee. On weekdays, lunch is served and at other times you can buy coffee, sandwiches and salads. In Hemlingbystugan you can also exercise, sauna and have meetings or conferences. There is also a range of leisure equipment that visitors can borrow free of charge.
