Beskrivelse
The nature reserve consists of the peak of Hälberget, a mountain measuring 432 meters above sea level. On the flat top, the forest is sparse and patchy. There are no facilities or paths in the area, which is difficult to access and is surrounded by steep slopes, which can make it difficult to visit. Hälberget nature reserve covers a 20-hectare natural forest area on the top of Hälberget. The area is located about 12 kilometers southeast of Järvsö in Ljusdal municipality. The area is difficult to access and the slopes of the mountain are steep in places, making it difficult to visit.
The forest in the nature reserve is basically unaffected by forestry in the last century, but there are logging stumps from the time before that. Now the forest has developed natural forest structures and has high natural values.
Animals and plants in the area
It is the old coniferous forest with elements of real old pine trees and old spruce trees covered with hanging lichen that is the reason for the protection of the area. Some of the pines are up to 250 years old. The forest has no traces of recent forestry operations and has been allowed to develop freely for a long time. This has meant that there are now good conditions for species that require dead wood, old trees, a stable microclimate and trees that have been continuously present on the site for a long time.
Among other things, there are the red-listed species knotweed, spruce tick, woolly tick, pine tick, lung lichen and three-toed woodpecker.

Regler
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- take firewood
- break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damage, pick or collect plants, fungi and lichens
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise harming or disturbing wildlife
- putting up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or inscription
- damage solid objects or surfaces, such as moving or removing stones, digging, or similar
- use the area for organized competitions without the permission of the county administrative board
- use the area for military exercises.
Regulation 1 above does not prevent driving with snowmobiles in winter on frozen and well snow-covered ground.
Regulation 4 above does not prevent the picking of berries and edible fungi that are not red-listed.
Regulations 1 and 5 above do not prevent holders of special rights in connection with the hunting that is permitted in the nature reserve.
Regulation 6 does not prevent temporary signage in connection with licensed organized competitions under regulation 8.
