Finnbrännabäcken, Naturreservat

Meandering streams, soft moss mats and untouched forest. That's what you'll find in Finnbrännabäckens nature reserve. The moist environment and old trees are good for many species that have difficulty surviving in today's forests. Apart from the path in the northern part of the area, there are no marked trails in the nature reserve. But if you follow one of the small streams, you will enter lush and magical environments where water seeps out from natural springs.

From a distance, it may look a little messy with trees and branches that have fallen over the stream channels. Dry trees and stumps can also give a dead impression. Get closer and you'll see that the forest and the environment in and around the streams are full of life.

Animals in Finnbrännabäcken

Here you can find ferns and the tall mountain holly, but also the small orchid spider flower and other tender herbs. The fallen tree trunks are often overgrown with mosses and lichens, and many insects live in the decaying trees.

There's also a good chance you'll see a woodpecker looking for something to eat.

Along the streams and in the rest of the forest there are spruces of different ages, as in old, untouched forests. But there are also birch, willow, aspen, gray alder and other deciduous trees.

Pastoral farming has taken place in the surroundings and in the past there were several pastoral farms. The forest was then used as pasture for the animals and the mires for haymaking.
