Beskrivelse
Björkehorns nature reserve is a limestone coniferous forest on the slope down to the shore of Lake Hille. The conifers are between 100 and 150 years old and there are also tall aspen and groves of hazel, which normally grow further south. The limestone coniferous forest in Björkehorn is of the highest class. You can find many species of soil fungi that are typical of this type of forest, where the ground has been grazed for many years in old forest that has been left untouched. For example, several very rare spiders grow here, such as the silk spider, the spruce root spider and the violet-striped spider. In old spruce trees you can also find violet-gray thorn lichen, and the area has a grove-like flora with whitethumb, lily of the valley, spring pea, wild sorrel, stone berry, wood sorrel and wound lichen and cornflower in abundance.
Popular outdoor recreation area
During the grazing season, there is parking for motor vehicles at the homestead, which is just before the nature reserve. See map below.
The area is popular with birdwatchers and fishermen, and in winter also with ice skaters. A well-trodden path runs along the shore with viewpoints towards the waters of Lake Hille. In the northern part of the reserve there is a popular shelter.

Regler
You are welcome to visit the nature reserve, but please note that it is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- take firewood. Firing is only permitted with the wood provided or if you have brought your own wood
- break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damaging, picking or collecting plants, fungi and lichens
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise harming or disturbing wildlife
- putting up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or inscription
- damage solid objects or surfaces, such as moving or removing stones, digging, or similar
- use the area for organized competitions without the permission of the county administrative board
- use the area for military exercises.
