Tombo gruva

Hike on trails through forests and fields to Tombo mine.

There are two paths from the forest road and the best car parking is at the turnaround.

If you want to walk a hiking loop, from parking at the turnaround - the mine - parking along the forest road, it works great. The total length of the hike is then about 1.5 km.

At the mine there are nice resting opportunities.

Very good quality ore was mined in the Tombo mine from the 17th century until 1918. The mine is about 35 m deep and extends about 100 m into the rock. Several of the mine holes are now filled with water and others are overgrown. However, the best known is the so-called ice mine. The walls of the mine are covered with ice all year round, and the mine galleries are otherwise covered with green lichens.
