Södra Bisens kulturstråk

Nice cultural trail to hike on your own. The cultural trail has slightly different length and difficulty depending on the choice of path / trail.

The village of Södra Bisen grew up in the 1600s. Here the immigrant Finns cleared their forest and grew their rye and here they built their crofts and at most there were eight crofts here. After the 1930s the population began to decline and now there is only one croft with its original character and four of the crofts have been rebuilt or altered. The buildings in some of the most remote places have now been demolished, fences and hedgerows have fallen down and the forest has reclaimed the land.

Södra Bisen is part of Malingsbo Ecopark and take the opportunity during the walk to enjoy the beautiful view at Malingsklack and take a break at Lake Bisen, where there is also a small barbecue area.

The cultural trail is under development and the Bruksleden and Romboleden trails pass through the village. Two trails that extend further into the deep forests of Bergslagen and are significantly longer than the Cultural Trail.
