Siljansnäsrundan

This is a suggestion for a route to cycle to experience the villages and landscape around Siljansnäs. There are no markings to follow, although you sometimes follow the Siljansleden cycle path. From the center of Leksand you ride on the bike path all the way through Åkerö, Karlsarvet and Västanvik. At the top of Grytnäs, you choose to turn left towards Alvik, Almo for medsolsvarv. Now it goes down towards Byrviken and with nice views out towards Storön and Siljansnäs church. Further up to Alvik and through the dense village cluster. Over Almoån and into Almo where the road winds between houses and outbuildings. Then it's off on the gravel roads in the large field area Leran down around the overgrown villages in Siljansnäs.

Now it's uphill past the kiosk, school, shop and church in the direction of Mon. If you want to make a detour up to Naturum, the reward for the hard hill will be beautiful views. If the time is right, both Naturum and Buffils Anna's coffee shop are open. Before Mon, there is the opportunity to rest in a small hut by the lighted trail.

From Mon it slopes gently down to Hjulbäck and now with a view of Österviken. From Hjulbäck, the small hilly road follows the lake to Fornby. Now you come out on the slightly busier road over Fornbybanken, through Sundsnäs and up to Grytnäs again. The circle is closed and now it will soon be the bike path back to Leksand again. In Västanvik you can visit Jobs Hantryck's workshop shop, which is beautifully located with a view of Österviken.
