Leksands kommun
From Böle you walk along the pastures in the 75-hectare Böle-Fallsbjörken grazing area. A landscape reminiscent of older times. Then it's off to Knytberget, 460 meters above sea level, and down through Knytberget Nature Reserve. Here, the fertile land was previously farmland but has since been allowed to grow again and new natural values have emerged.
The landscape opens up again with vast fields and views. The trail goes through Söder Lindberg and on to Norr Lindberg. Then it goes down towards Salutjärn, where there is a nice bathing place and a mud hut. Now the trail leaves Leksand municipality and continues over Saluån into Rättvik municipality.
Here the hike continues through the villages of Östergrav and Söderås - in Söderås you can get fantastic views of Siljan and the surrounding area - before the path in Bäck turns off towards the forest again. A few kilometers of forest hiking and then there is the opportunity for both swimming and overnight stay at Bysjön.
From Bysjön it is a stone's throw to Hedsåsens fäbodställe. The pastures are beautiful all year round, but the question is whether the whitethroat season and freshly cut birch trees will take the prize. From hiking along the fence in an open environment, it becomes a forest again and a little fence in the forest! Then it is mainly downhill through the forest down towards Rättvik and the campsite at Enån.
The Siljan Trail is a hiking trail in the forests around Siljan and Lake Orsasjön. The trail mainly follows old shepherd's huts, along lakes, over bogs and up mountains. Many of the pastures are high and beautifully situated, where there are height differences of over 400 meters. In many places, the uphill effort is rewarded by breathtaking views of Siljan and the surrounding area.
The trail is marked with orange paint and directional signs. Rest and camp sites are organized at appropriate distances. The trail runs largely in uninhabited terrain and for longer trips it is necessary to be well equipped.
