Beskrivelse
The reserve is located on both sides of the border between Leksand and Gagnef municipalities. The area consists of a stream gorge with a swamp spruce forest and surrounding pine forest. The damp environment in the stream gorge means that the area has never or rarely been exposed to forest fires. There is a lot of dead wood in the ravine that favors wood fungi and a variety of mosses and lichens thrive here. Visiting the area on a hot summer's day can be a cooling experience down in the shady environment. There is a marked trail in the part of the reserve located in Gagnef.
The name Gråthålet comes from the belief that you could hear the cries and screams of a myling - according to Swedish folklore, a ghost of a newborn baby that had been murdered.
