Fishing may only be conducted with the following gear (FIFS 2004:36).

• Herring yarn with a mesh size of no more than 50 millimeters diagonal measurement.
• A simple fishing net standing on the bottom with a depth of no more than two meters when stretched vertically and whose meshes have a strength of no more than three kilograms.
  
• Long reef that is placed in its entirety on the bottom
  
• Hand gear if the fishing method as such does not require the use of a boat. Tug rowing is, however, permitted, but not with otter or otter-like gear.
  
• Hook and hook for catching bait.
  
• Tobis note.
  
• Russian with a maximum height of 70 centimeters.
  
• Åltina (eel nest).
  
• Ålbottengarn and eel-homma with smaller meshes than 30 millimetres, however only on the coastal stretch from Norjeby's northernmost border to Lörby Kladd.
  
• Gear used in taxed or established salmon fishing according to what has been used by age.
  
• Fishing for salmon and trout is prohibited from from September 1 on March 15. However, for fishing with hand gear, the ban only applies until on December 31.
  

Fishing with nets according to 1 and 2 above is prohibited from on 1 April until on 15 October partly at the turn of the week from Friday at 09.00 to Sunday at 4 p.m., and other weekdays from 09.00 to 4 p.m. The ban does not apply to fishing in taxed or established salmon fishing according to what has been used for ages.

If it can be allowed from a fishery conservation point of view, the county administrative board may grant exceptions to the provisions in the second paragraph for fishing with such gear as referred to in the first paragraph 10 for those who carry out fishing with the support of a fishing license. The County Administrative Board may decide on more detailed conditions for permits.
