Beskrivelse
In Östra Flymen, you can experience an area in Blekinge's forest countryside with pastures, woodlands and wetlands. Walk along old paths and roads in the nature reserve, see cultural-historical traces such as stone cairns in former arable land, stone walls and croft ruins.
In the mid-19th century, much of the land in the reserve was pasture. Most of it was meadow where hay was grown to feed the animals in winter and some was arable land where grain was grown. On the outfield there were trees for timber and there the animals, cows and sheep, grazed. Since then, there has been more and more forest in the area. Tistelåkern is a small area of arable land that remains and is still cultivated.
The height difference within the reserve is no more than 12 meters with the highest point 98 meters above sea level. The soil layers are dominated by sandy moraine soil that is normally blocky, with occasional large blocks, and there are outcrops and rock outcrops.
Pasture with high natural values
The reserve has very high natural values, mainly linked to mosaic-like pastures. The animals have grazed both in the forest and in pastures. Since grazing animals have stopped there, the grasslands are becoming overgrown with bushes and thickets. There are still valuable plants that thrive in grazed pastures, such as creeping bent, creeping thyme and sundew in dry grasslands. There are also meadow fungi, various waxcups. In a marsh in pastureland grows snake tongue, the only occurrence in Blekinge's hinterland. It is important to clear and graze the pastures again to keep them open so that the area's natural values are preserved.
Both oak and spruce in the forest
There is broadleaf forest, deciduous swamp forest and spruce forest. There is a lot of oak growing in the previously grazed pasture forest. There are old, large lime trees that were previously felled. The twigs were then cut off to feed the animals. In coniferous natural forests with spruce and pine, there is a lot of moss growing on the ground and there is plenty of dead wood. Species worthy of protection live there, such as the trap moss, the beetle green lion and the candelabra fungus. Swamp forest grows in damp hollows.

A gravel road leads to the reserve, which is located two kilometers northeast of Flymen's church in the northeastern part of Karlskrona municipality.

You are welcome to visit Östra Flymen, but please note that it is not allowed to
- damage land, destroy or damage solid natural objects or surface formations
- prospect for minerals
- Damage stone walls, cairns or other cultural-historical remains
- unduly disturbing wildlife
- damage living or dead trees and shrubs, or vegetation in general, remove or destroy dead wood
- pick mosses, lichens or wood-living fungi, other than what is reasonably necessary for species identification
- capture and collect invertebrates in such a way as to damage or destroy their biotopes or reproductive habitats
- introducing plant or animal species alien to the area, as well as breeds/types alien to the area
- bring unleashed dogs into pastures other than for herding livestock or hunting
- drive motorized vehicles, ride or cycle other than on existing roads within the reserve
- set up a caravan/mobile home or similar for overnight stays
- light a fire other than on a specially prepared fireplace.
Without permission from the county administrative board, you may not
- conduct scientific research involving sampling, marking, trapping, installation of equipment or any form of impact on plant or animal life
- use the area for competitions, exercises or other organized activities that may disturb nature or the public's outdoor life
- put up a board, poster, sign, signpost, inscription or similar device, other than temporarily (for a maximum of one week) in connection with hunting or in connection with organized outdoor activities.
