Beskrivelse

The art museum "Martinssonska gården" is open during the summer season and it is located on the street Lotsgatan in Karlshamn in a charming neighborhood with old wooden houses.

In the house, where the artist Johnny Martinsson has been living for a long time, three of his artist friends have also lived, namely Oskar Wickström, Thure Wahlström and Per Serre. The works of the four artists are now gathered under the same roof.

In total there are eleven rooms to explore including Johnny's workshop where he still works. There is also an outdoor courtyard where the larger sculptures are displayed (see picture).

Johnny Martinsson's artistic expression has been strongly influenced by his upbringing on the island of Tärnö and life by the sea. With his artworks, he explores the force fields in the ship's lines, the movement of the water, the frame shapes and the surfaces of the sails.

The house, which is from the early 19th century, has been carefully restored and also includes a farmhouse from the 18th century. There is also a courtyard with cobblestones and a lush garden. Here the visitor encounters modern art framed in lush greenery, a piece of culturally valuable building history together with an enriching art experience.

Open summer time for visitors. For more information, please look at www.martinssonskagarden.se.
