Beskrivelse
The Lilla Nyteboda nature reserve is a small area with a varied nature, with deciduous forest and pasture. It is located on a hill north of Lake Immeln. There are small fields with stone walls and other traces of cultural history.
You can easily get here because the area is crossed by car roads and Skåneleden has its route here. Nytebodaån is the reserve's western border and also the county border with Skåne. The area has belonged to Sveaskog and was delimited as worthy of protection within the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's inventory "State forests worthy of protection and primeval forests", a so-called SNUS object.
Historical lands
The nature reserve contains wooded land that has long been used for cattle grazing, firewood and timber extraction.
The areas that were previously cultivated have recently been grazed and such land is also found in parts of the forest. The former wet meadows along the river are now covered with swamp forest.
Traces of road and bridge
Older landscape structures are clearly visible in that previously cultivated land is still open. There are traces of cultural history in the form of field loops with cairns, older road systems and stone walls.
North of the current county road, you can see the remains of the old county road and the stone foundations of the old bridge over Nytebodaån.
Swamp forest and hilly terrain
The landscape varies from the swamp forest that is occasionally flooded next to the river, via previously cultivated yet partially open land, to the boulder-rich, hilly and sometimes steep deciduous forest terrain. Parts of the forest are old, with plenty of dead trees lying around, which are important habitats for lichens, mosses, fungi and insects.

Rutevejledning
You drive west from Olofström towards Nyteboda about ten kilometers. Lilla Nyteboda is located north of Nytebodaviken at the northeastern part of Lake Immeln, next to the county border with Skåne.
Regler
You are welcome to visit Lilla Nyteboda, but please note that it is not allowed to
- damage the ground
- destroy or damage fixed natural objects or surface formations
- remove or damage cultural-historical remains such as stone walls, cairns and roads
- unduly disturb wildlife
- felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing or lying trees and shrubs or vegetation in general, or removing dead wood
- pick mosses, lichens or woody fungi, or dig up plants
- bring an unleashed dog other than for hunting
- drive a vehicle other than on the road
- riding or cycling other than on the road
- setting up a caravan or motor home
- camping
- light a fire
- affixing a board, placard, poster, sign, inscription or similar device, except for information and reserve signs and boundary markers.
Without permission from the county administrative board, you may not
- collect butterflies or beetles
- conduct scientific research involving sampling or the installation of equipment
- investigate the presence of mineral substances
- use the area for competitions, exercises, camps or other activities that may disturb the natural environment or outdoor recreation.
