Beskrivelse
In Kvallåkra nature reserve, you can walk on a forested ridge with rocky outcrops in several places. The forest consists mostly of species-rich broadleaf forest. There are also small swamp forests and a lake.
The three nature reserves Kvallåkra, Östra Kvallåkra and Persgärde protect a large contiguous area of valuable forest. There are old trees and dead wood, which many birds, insects, mosses and lichens appreciate. The reserves are linked by several marked paths.
Natural forest on a ridge
The area is partly made up of large boulders with steep mountain sides. The nature reserve is located at levels between 40 and 70 meters above sea level, that is, at the highest coastline, which in this part of Blekinge is about 65 meters above sea level.
The reserves are located in an area with rift valley terrain. The forest grows on the heights and on the rocky slopes. In the valleys there are narrow stretches of old hay meadows and fields, which are now grazed. The mountain ridge occupies most of the area. In addition to the species-rich broadleaf forest, there are mixed forests of various ages with oak, beech, hornbeam, spruce and pine, as well as smaller swamp forests. Other parts have lime, elm, aspen, birch and hazel.
In the last half century, there has been no felling other than for domestic use.
In the northeast is part of Sandsjön, a now shallow and nutrient-poor lake that previously sank by 1.5 meters.

Rutevejledning
The nature reserve is located north of the county road between Hällaryd and Halahult. Exit the E22 at Åryd or Karlshamn östra. Take county road 631 from Hällaryd towards Halahult and Belganet. About 7 km from Hällaryd church, when you have just passed the sunken and overgrown Hemsjön lake on the right, the reserve is on the left side of the road.

You are welcome to visit Kvallåkra, but please note that it is not allowed to
- digging, drilling, chiseling or otherwise destroying or damaging solid natural objects or surface formations
- damage stone walls
- unduly disturb wildlife
- let dogs loose other than for hunting
- damaging growing trees or shrubs or vegetation in general by digging up plants
- removing dry trees and stumps
- camping or setting up a caravan or motor home
- making a fire
- driving vehicles other than on roads designated for this purpose
- use a radio or CD player in a disruptive manner or otherwise cause disturbing noise
- use the area for exercises that disturb nature or the public's outdoor life in the reserve
- affix a board, poster, sign, inscription or similar device
- riding or cycling other than on roads.
