Beskrivelse
Here you can enjoy the meditative tranquillity of Bräkneån's scenic surroundings, where the course of the river is lined with natural forests, meadows and floodplain forests. If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, the creek ravines north of Hålabäck are worth a visit.
Bräkneån
The western part of the reserve includes a three-kilometer stretch of the Bräkne River and surrounding land. The river has largely retained its natural course, but both south and north of the bridge at Hultalycke you can clearly see the stone clearing that was done in the 19th century to make the river floatable. The rare fern safflower is common along the banks and on islands in the river there are large populations of the protected yew. The Bräkne River is part of the EU's Natura 2000 ecological network.
Natural forests
In the northern part, the slopes down to the river are steep and sometimes blocky, with long tree continuity of both oak-dominated and pine-dominated forest. The element of flames and dry bark is large. As you get further south, the slopes flatten out and the forest becomes pine-dominated.
Stream ravines and pastures
The eastern part of the reserve includes parts of the stream north of Hålabäck with surrounding land. Apart from the pastures and water meadows in the southern part, the stream ravines and natural forests to the north are not as easily accessible as the areas along the Bräkneån, but they are worth visiting.
Cultural relics
At the top of the northern part is Ingier Carlsdotter's croft with several remains. "Ingier vid stenen" (Ingier by the stone) was the name of the croft, which is understandable when you see the large moving block on the site. Under the block there is said to have been a pigsty! Along the southeastern border runs the so-called Likbärarleden which connects to the remains of Hålabäck's mill which burned down in 1885.

Rutevejledning
You can reach the nature reserve most easily from the road between Stengölsmåla and Häjan. A kilometer into the road from the west, there is a turn-off towards Hultalycke. The smaller stream ravine area north of Hålabäck is not as easily accessible. You can walk there from a couple of small roads that go north from the road, 350 to 450 meters east of the road bridge over Bräkneån at Hålabäck.
Regler
You are welcome to visit Hultalycke, but please note that it is not allowed to
- damage the ground or seabed, destroy or damage solid natural objects or surface formations
- pan for gold
- Damage stone walls, cairns or other cultural-historical remains
- unduly disturbing wildlife
- damage living or dead trees and shrubs, or vegetation in general, remove or burn dead wood
- pick mosses, lichens or wood-living fungi, other than what is reasonably necessary for species identification
- planting, sowing or spreading plants, animals, fungi or other organisms
- carry an unleashed dog other than for hunting, herding livestock or searching for injured animals
- drive a motor vehicle
- camping or otherwise setting up camp for more than two days
- park a motor home or caravan in a parking lot for more than two days
- light a fire other than on a specially prepared fireplace.
Furthermore, it is forbidden without the permission of the county administrative board to
- conduct surveys involving sampling, marking, trapping, installation of equipment or any form of impact on plant or animal life. Collection by destructive methods, e.g. by destroying substrate, is prohibited
- using the area for competitions, exercises or other organized activities that may disturb nature or the outdoor life of the public
- put up a board, poster, sign, signpost, inscription or similar device, other than temporarily (for a maximum of one week) in connection with hunting or organized outdoor activities.
