Hallarumsviken, Naturreservat

In the Hallarumsviken nature reserve, you can experience a hike in a varied landscape of rocky outcrops with oak scrub and steep cliffs, crevice valleys with open pastures and beautiful views of a Blekinge inner archipelago.

Hallarumsviken is an attractive and popular outdoor area that is easily accessible. You can get here by bus. Several trails and paths run through the reserve's forests and pastures. There are also remains of two crofts in the area.

Dramatic coastal landscape

The coastal landscape has a varied and partly dramatic topography with the precipices of the fault line and with several rift valleys. There are clear traces of the effects of the ice sheet.

In Hallarumsviken, the mountain plunges steeply into the bay from a height of 30 meters. Several viewpoints offer beautiful views of the Blekinge inner archipelago. Glittering water, juniper bushes, beech forests and the distant silhouette of Karlskrona are visible above the gnarled oak forest. Down in the valleys, a cultural landscape opens up, with grasslands and lush oak pastures, field hollows and rocky areas. Nowadays the land is kept open by grazing. In the meadows, the orchids Adam and Eve can glow red and yellow. In midsummer, the night violet is fragrant during the twilight hours.

Remains of Westergrenatorpet

The crofts are marked on the map prior to the 1827 legal change. One of the crofts was called Westergrenatorpet after its last owner. The house was demolished in the 1930s, but the stone foundations of the various buildings are still visible on the site. Lilacs, apple trees and other surviving cultural plants still grow there.

Old pollarded ash trees, whose branches were pruned for fodder, still exist. The peat ruins and the old fields are located in the northwestern part of the reserve.

South of the ruins, the former arable land lies in an open valley. The stone road that led there can still be followed. The road is partly framed by stone fences. Remains of the stone bridge that the crofter started to build can still be seen between Vassaskär Island and the mainland.
