Beskrivelse
In Alnaryd Nature Reserve you can experience Alnarydsåsen, species-rich broadleaf forests and Nättrabyån with meadows, rapids and swell areas. On the old embankment after Krösnabanan, Blekingeleden follows the river for long stretches, which makes it easy to enjoy the river and its surroundings and also to get out on the marshes.
Alnarydsåsen
To the south is Alnarydsåsen, which was the reason for the creation of a small nature reserve back in 1981. The southern part of the expanded reserve is dominated by post-glacial glacial river sediments and the ridge is Karlskrona municipality's most well-marked. The ridge and surrounding land are today grazed by sheep.
Broadleaf forests
Much of the forest land within the reserve is located on blocky slopes that have made it difficult to conduct rational forestry. This has meant that the forest has long continuity and today harbors many species of lichens, fungi and mosses that are linked to old broadleaf forests. In some parts, there is a large proportion of old, coarse trees, as well as lying and standing dead wood.
Nättrabyån
In the northern part of the reserve, the Nättrabyån river is calmly flowing with large fields that have historically been cut to utilize the nutritious hay. Further south, the river becomes more raging and blocky with smaller swell areas. To the north of the power station, the red-listed hairy clover can be found on boulders and tree roots. South of the power plant, the river is affected by regulation and has no natural water level variations. The beautiful and rare fern safflower grows abundantly in the more flowing parts of the river. If you are lucky, you may see both common tern and white-tailed godwit foraging in or near the river.
Törnefors mill
At Långasjöbäckens outlet into Nättrabyån, you can see pinch hammers, slag heaps and dam walls that are remnants of Törnefors mill, which operated from 1727-1780.
Blekingeleden
On Alnarydsåsen and north on the embankment after Krösnabanan runs Blekingeleden, which offers beautiful views from the ridge and scenic scenery along Nättrabyån. Along the river, the trail coincides with the Krösnabaneleden cycle path.
