Beskrivelse
The Älmteryd nature reserve consists of a beautiful mosaic-like pasture with interspersed small forest areas of deciduous trees, mainly hornbeam, with wet meadow areas and small spring streams.
The northern and western parts of Älmteryd Nature Reserve consist of pasture land with elements of hornbeam groves. The reserve contains both dry meadow areas and wetter land. The eastern part is grazed arable land that has not been cultivated since around 1970.
The pasture is one of the most species-rich and varied in Blekinge's forest area. Several red-listed species of vascular plants are present, including wood anemone, creeping thyme, spruce spurge and Hartman's starling. The latter has only been found in a few places in the county. In the north-western part of the reserve there are springs, with water flowing out of the ground. Among other things, goldenrod and brook sedge grow in this area.
The village road that partly forms the boundary of the reserve has an ancient history. It is part of the highway that connected Lyckeby (Lyckå) with Bergkvara and Kalmar. The road has previously been called "Kungsstigen".

Rutevejledning
Älmteryd is located along road 725 between Augerum and Torsås. The reserve is located south of the road about 1 km after Strågeryd. There is a parking lot by the old road through Älmteryd village. From the parking lot there is a marked path to the reserve.
Regler
You are welcome to visit Älmteryd, but please note that it is not allowed to
- damage land
- destroy or damage fixed natural objects or surface formations
- damage stone walls or cairns
- unduly disturb wildlife
- damage growing or dead trees and shrubs and vegetation in general, or remove dead wood
- bring an unleashed dog other than for hunting
- drive a vehicle
- camping or setting up a caravan or motor home
- light a fire
- use a radio, CD player or similar equipment in a disruptive manner.
Without permission from the county administrative board, you may not
- conduct scientific research involving sampling or installation of equipment
- use the area for competitions or exercises that may disturb nature or the public's outdoor life
- affix a board, poster, poster, sign, inscription or similar device, other than temporarily (for a maximum of one week) in connection with hunting or organized outdoor activities.
