Vålsveden

Vålberget, which is the village of Hagen's shieling place, is not mentioned in the 1664 shieling list. In the 1806-1812 land consolidation it was included with Nyberget and Hagrisåsa. Several of the timber buildings are very old and the oldest preserved cottages are said to be from the 17th century.

A vål is the same as a pile or heap of rice or stone. Given the location of Vålberget, this could indicate that there was a so-called vårdkase here, which was used in the past, not least in times of unrest, when inhabitants of different villages signaled to each other with the help of fire.

Near Vålberget is Trollkäringsholarna, where, according to legend, troll packs were burned at the stake.

Animal husbandry ceased in 1975. The couple Nises Valfrid, born in 1908, and Anna Rosendahl-Olsson (1908-1982) were the last to have cows in Vålberget. They had four cows plus young animals.

In a cultural-historical environmental analysis, Vålberget has been classified as an area of great cultural-historical and environmental value.
