Djulö Våtmark

Welcome to Djulö Wetland!

You are very welcome to walk around the wetland and discover its wildlife and natural environment up close. Visit our three ponds and learn more about stormwater management. Take a break at one of our viewpoints, or enjoy Ek-o-lek. Ek-o-lek is an imaginative place where art, nature and play come together.

The area has fire pits and places to rest. You can watch birds from our viewpoint or discover aquatic life at the small pier. There are several paths and walking trails, so you can choose between a short walk and a longer stroll. There is a toilet in the area.

Please look, but take care of the wildlife

We have created several features to support biodiversity, including bee hotels, a pond for frogs, and protected areas for birds. You are welcome to look, but please do not walk or climb in the sand or on the brushwood fences. Please also keep your dog from running loose or digging in the area. This can disturb wild bees, birds and other small animals.

Please note that swimming is not allowed in the ponds. Put your litter in a bin.

Finding the wetland

You can enter the area through one of three entrances. One entrance is reached via Djulö allé, and two entrances are reached via Laxmans väg.

Please note that there is no footpath between Furuliden and Djulö Wetland. There is currently a temporary road leading only to a construction site. Do not use it; it is for construction traffic only and does not lead to the wetland. Please do not walk across the fields either, as this may damage the crops.

We recommend walking, cycling, car-sharing or using public transport to get to the wetland. The nearest bus stop is Furuliden on Eriksbergsvägen. From there, the entrance at Djulö allé is the closest. No bus goes all the way to the entrances.

Parking is available at Stora Djulö. There is no parking at Djulö Wetland.

Accessibility, special transport and parking permits

The area can be explored by wheelchair or with a walking frame. There are also benches where visitors can sit and rest.

Special transport vehicles and visitors who have difficulty walking may drop passengers off at any of the three entrances. If you have a parking permit for people with reduced mobility, there are two designated parking spaces at the entrance from Djulö allé.

Please note that you must not drive onto Djulö allé from Eriksbergsvägen. To drive to Djulö allé, use the route from Djulö via Hilding Hjelmbergs väg to Djulö allé instead.

The temporary toilet in the area is currently not accessible for wheelchair users.

Why a wetland?

Together with Sörmland Vatten and Amazon, we have strengthened our infrastructure. By creating a wetland area, we are working together to prepare for future rainfall and adapt stormwater management in Katrineholm Municipality to a changing climate.
