Konstverk Det stora fröet

Björn Selder was a graphic artist and sculptor whose main materials were iron, wood, bronze and, in later years, stone. He has made several fountains for public spaces, including ‘Frihetens Källa’ (Source of Freedom) in Stockholm. In the 1970s, he created ‘Det stora fröet’ (The Big Seed) from stainless steel and marble, which is placed in the square in the centre of Vråen in Värnamo.

In 1969, he initiated the Artists’ Collective Workshop (KKV) in Stockholm, together with Torsten Fridh and Rickard Künzl. Björn Selder was a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China and was commissioned by the Chinese government to create a sculpture in relief on the Great Wall of China. The artwork was purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 1977.
