Northbound from Östersund: Along the E 45, just before you reach the center of Hammerdal, there is a sign on the left side of the road (where it says Camp Route 45). There you turn left onto Fyrvägen. After about 4.5 kilometers, turn onto Rödflovägen. After about 3 kilometers you turn onto a smaller forest road; Skarpåsvägen. After about 1 kilometer you arrive at the reserve's information board, on the right side of the road.

Welcome to Skarpåskälabodarna. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:

• capture, disturb or harm mammals, birds, frogs and reptiles, as well as damage their nests and spawning grounds or collect eggs,
• picking and collecting species of any kind except berries and edible mushrooms
• climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 m to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow
• damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
• make fires, and
• driving a motorized vehicle off-road.
