Beskrivelse

Suggested paddling trip, two days, with about 4-6 hours of paddling per day. Thousand islets and skerries, starting from Mon or Tyrislöt.

Beginner-friendly but requires good orientation skills.

A jumble of small skerries in the sea band and few open passages. Enjoy the wilderness in the outer archipelago. Shallow waters with skerries and islets mean that the area has very little boat traffic.

Visit the "King's cottage" on Melskär (east of Lammskär) with accommodation for two people. The cabin originated as a traditional hunting and fishing cabin that was refurbished for King Karl the Sixteenth Gustaf's 50th birthday, when it was given to him as a gift from the Swedish Defense Forces. The cottage needs to be pre-booked with the County Administrative Board, which manages the cottage. If you want to book a night, contact the Unit for the Management of Protected Nature, telephone: 010-223 50 00 or e-mail: ostergotland@lansstyrelsen.se and state that you want to book Melskärsstugan in Sankt Anna nature reserve. There is a barbecue area with a coffee table and a dry toilet at the cabin.

Have a nice trip!

Fakta

Right of public access - do not disturb, do not destroy

The right of public access allows you to go ashore on a beach that is not part of a plot of land, farmland, fenced pasture or protected areas for wildlife and birds. In bird protection areas, it is not allowed to come closer to land than 100 meters. Camping is allowed for single days in the same place, but avoid more than two nights in the same place. Do not disturb landowners or camp too close to houses. Camping with two or three tents for a day is part of the right of public access. However, if you camp in large groups with many tents, you should ask the landowner for permission. Remember that many of the islands are grazed by cattle, so do not camp on such an island if it is small and you disturb the animals.

Rules for campfires:

-Choose a place where there is no risk of the fire spreading and thus damaging the land and vegetation.

-Keep the fire under surveillance and always extinguish it thoroughly.

-Preferably use existing fireplaces.

-Never burn directly on or next to rocks or large boulders, as they can easily crack and thus potentially damage valuable natural features.

-It is not allowed to cut or saw down trees and shrubs, or to take brushwood, branches or bark from living trees. Instead, pick fallen cones or sticks from the ground.

-When there is a risk of fire, all open fires are prohibited, including in fireplaces.

Always take care of your waste, it destroys nature and can seriously harm animals. Thank you for your consideration!
