Vanges Museigård

Birger Kristensson was born on Vanges farm in 1923. He described his 55-year-long professional life as a farmer on the farm as involuntary, "it had to be done". In addition to farming, Birger began collecting farm objects from all over Gotland at an early age. His collecting intensified over the years and in 1997, the year Birger turned 75, he decided to show the world his collection. In collaboration with Burs Hembygdsförening, the doors to the over one thousand square meter collection were opened to visitors.

Birger lived on the farm and showed his treasures until his death in March 2015. He was 91 years old. In 2000, he donated the entire farm and collection to the newly formed Vanges Gårdsmuseum Foundation, which will continue to show the collection to interested parties.
