Beskrivelse
Åkarp is above all the hazel dormouse's paradise. In the bushy fields, the sweet mouse finds food, nesting sites and hiding places. The area is hilly with old forest, overgrown fields and stone-walled old fields. A varied nature with its highest point at 150 meters above sea level.
Geology
Åkarp is located in a hilly landscape at a fairly high altitude. The highest point of 150 meters above sea level is located in the northwestern part of the nature reserve. From here it slopes 70 meters down towards Kringelängabäcken in the southeast.
Natural and cultural values
There are many rare plants and animals in the shrub-rich fields, in the bushes along the stone fences around the old fields and in the areas of deciduous forest. The old outfield in the west is overgrown and very bushy. Here is one of Skåne's largest communities of dormice. In the wetter parts, with a little luck, you may come across the common frog, long-legged frog and great crested newt. The broadleaf forest contains a lot of dead wood and gives a feeling of untouched natural forest. The bark of the old trees is home to the rare lichens elm lichen and beech warty lichen. Red deer and wild boar are common throughout the nature reserve.
In the southern part, several ancient remains are hidden, such as flint axes and traces of fossil farmland.
Outdoor life
The nature reserve is difficult to access and is far from the main roads and is therefore of little importance for the public's outdoor life. The area has no access point and there are no paths or facilities for outdoor life.

For example, it is forbidden to:
- have a dog unleashed
- ride a bicycle
- riding or driving a horse
- drive a motor vehicle
It is important to note that this is only a selection of the rules.
Full regulations for visitors
In addition to regulations and prohibitions in other laws and regulations, it is forbidden to:
- put up a notice board, sign, inscription, poster or similar,
- carry out any form of construction or set up objects foreign to the reserve,
- drive a motor vehicle or bicycle,
- ride or drive a horse,
- bring a dog other than on a physical leash,
Furthermore, it is prohibited without the permission of the County Administrative Board:
6. catch insects, spiders, shells or other invertebrates other than by scooping, hand picking or other selective method with subsequent release within the nature reserve. The release requirement does not apply to single specimens of each species, provided that the collection does not violate the conservation rules,
7. collecting mosses, lichens or woody fungi, with the exception of single specimens, provided that the collection does not infringe the conservation rules.
