The Vättern Scarp Landscape is one of Sweden's 7 Biosphere Reserves (soon to be 8) The role of the Biosphere Reserves is to work extra hard with sustainable development and Agenda 2030. Biosphere Reserves are places where many different actors work together to try out new ideas and methods to reduce climate impact. Simply local solutions to global climate problems. Once a good practice has been developed, it is taken outside the biosphere reserve to be shared with others. To become a biosphere reserve, certain criteria must be met, for example, there must be high natural values. In the Vättern Scarp Landscape, the broken landscape and the steep slopes down to Lake Vättern are examples of environments that make the Vättern Scarp Landscape unique in terms of both flora and fauna.
