Risvedens vildmark, Naturreservat

Risveden is one of western Sweden's largest contiguous forest areas. The area is more than two square miles of varied nature.

Below is a brief presentation of four contiguous nature reserves located in the southern part of Risveden. Together they make up almost 800 ha of contiguous protected forest land. There are several marked paths that link the areas.

Kroksjön (Risveden stage 2)

With its blue-marked loop around the lake, good fishing opportunities and four shelters, this is probably the most visited of all four reserves. The forest in the area is a mixed forest with mainly conifers.

The terrain is relatively easy, except in the northeast where the mountain slopes steeply down to the water. There is a shelter with a fireplace and beautiful views of St. Kroksjön. The other shelters also have fireplaces. They are also more accessible towards the lake. There is a wood store in the southern part of the reserve, but there is no guarantee that wood is always available. For the fishing enthusiast, a fishing license must be purchased.

Risveden wilderness

This is the newest and largest reserve in the group. There is a shelter at Stora Ljusevatten. It is just a stone's throw away from one of the reserve parking lots. There is also an accessible table and a disabled parking space. The path system is well developed in the area and is mainly marked in blue. At the old crofting site Garsta there are remains in the form of stone foundations, cairns, stone fences etc. With Risveden's wildest bench, the place is a perfect place for a break or coffee.

Kvarnsjöarna

Beautiful trail along and between lakes in the area. The terrain is varied; from trampled paths in old mossy spruce forest, to tougher terrain over boulders. A finer Tiveden in miniature, if you ask us.

Trehörningen(Risveden1)

200 year old untouched spruce forest, with a path right through the area. Don't miss the view of Lake Salsjön from the mountain in the north, where the terrain is quite hilly. In the nature reserve there are many boulders that inspire your imagination that trolls roam the area.
