Museum Torfrid Olsson

In the village of Bygdeträsk, next to Europe's longest birch avenue, you will find "Northern Sweden's most distinguished art museum". The museum shows Torfrid Olsson's (1913-2003) artistic career with idiosyncratic and original works of art in many different techniques and materials, as well as history, studio and much more related to Torfrid's many years as an artist. The artist is represented at, among others, Moderna Museet, Nationalmuseum, Västerås and Gothenburg Art Museums, Västerbotten Museum and via a number of public decorations. In 2013, "Till fruktbarhetens lov" - the book about Torfrid's life and artistry was released. The museum welcomes both booked groups and individual spontaneous visitors and is just as attractive and interesting for the art-conscious as it is for a curious passerby. Every year, works by some of Torfrid's artist acquaintances are also shown - for example Berta Hansson, Oscar Reutersvärd and the designer and ceramist Stig Lindberg.
