Gerum prästänge, Naturreservat

The nature reserve is a very fine example of a Gotland meadow with sparse deciduous trees. The meadow has been managed in the traditional way with annual felling and mowing for several centuries.

The continuous management of the meadow has benefited a wide range of species. In the meadow you can find plants and fungi that are very rare elsewhere today. Here, for example, you can find the extremely rare plant Swedish eyebright.

The nature reserve also includes an area of broadleaf forest with large oaks, hazel and dead wood. The trees are old and gnarled with traces of old-time harvesting of leaves and branches.

It is a beautiful place to visit, especially during the spring flowers. The meadow is sensitive to trampling, so visitors will be directed to a footpath to be built in the area.
