Beskrivelse
Klackudden is a wilderness-like and easily accessible natural area on the coast. Here you can experience beautiful natural forests, shingle fields with fine beach embankments and giant boulders. You can also see interesting cultural and ancient monuments. Or take a dip at Dyråstrand beach. The Kustleden hiking trail is a natural way into the area.
Klackudden Nature Reserve is located 10 kilometers east of Gnarp, 1 kilometer north of Norrfjärden in Nordanstig municipality and covers 107 hectares.
The area is a continuous forest area on the coast between the fishing village of Norrfjärden and the Moningssand holiday home area. The nature reserve connects in the north directly to the popular beach Dyråsand, at Dyrån outlet.
Natural forests
Klackudden's forests are clearly shaped by their location by the sea. Lean and sparse rocky pine forests grow on the hillsides and slopes. The more fertile areas are mostly spruce forest with large elements of pine and deciduous trees.
Most of the area has not been subject to forestry in recent times. This has made the forests rich in large old trees, standing and lying dead trees, and a variety of tree species and ages.
This forest type is an unusual and important habitat for species such as the violet-grey thorn lichen, cat's-foot lichen and the pine thistle fungus.
Embankments and ancient monuments
In the reserve there are clear traces of the development of the landscape from the Ice Age to the present day. On the slopes in the northern part of the area there are large shingle fields, where you can see clear embankments formed in the former shoreline. Similar embankments can also be found on today's beach.
Although Klackudden can be perceived as a wilderness area, there are many traces that show that it has been used by humans for a long time.
The oldest remains consist of burial cairns from the Bronze Age (around 1800-500 BC) and the Early Iron Age (500 BC - 550 AD). More recent remains of settlements are found at Gamla hamnen.

Rutevejledning
In Gnarp, turn off the E4 east towards Norrfjärden. Drive about 9 kilometers through the villages Gryttje and Haddång. Just before Norrfjärden, turn left at the sign for Moningssand. Follow Ragvaldsnäsvägen, keep right at the crossroads after about 500 meters, then straight ahead. After about 2 kilometers, turn right onto a small gravel road, before you pass the bridge over Dyrån and the turnoff towards Moningssand. After about 700 meters, there is a parking lot (gravel field) on the right side of the road. Walk along the edge of the forest straight south into the reserve, or follow the road down to the beach in Dyråsand, where the coastal path enters the area. It is also possible to get to Klackudden by hiking Kustleden from Norrfjärden in the south, or from the road in Moningssand in the north.
Regler
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed:
- drive a motorized vehicle. Exceptions are made for motorboats, and for moose tractors or similar that are needed to transport larger game from the area during the hunting that is permitted in the nature reserve
- take firewood or make fires, other than fires at marked rest areas with firewood or driftwood
- damaging, picking or collecting plants, animals (including insects), fungi and lichens
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs, or otherwise harming living or dead trees and plants
- bringing an off-leash dog or other unleashed pet
- put up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or make an inscription
- damaging any fixed object or surface formation, such as moving or removing stones
- using recorded sound in a disruptive manner, or using it to attract birds or other animals
