Sommarutflykt till idylliska Sandvik

Lakeside location and summer café

At the tip of a peninsula along the eastern shore of Lake Fegen lies Sandvik. During July and August, you can enjoy coffee and homemade treats at Sockenstugan’s summer café, with views over the sparkling waters of Lake Fegen. During the café weeks, local handicrafts are also available for sale.

Sandvik Church

In the heart of this idyllic setting stands Sandvik Church, beautifully located on the peninsula. People have gathered here since the Middle Ages. According to legend, a wealthy woman was caught in a severe storm on Lake Fegen. In her despair, she promised to build a church if she were saved – and her boat drifted ashore right here on the peninsula. The current church, built in red granite in the 1890s, is today an impressive landmark and a living cultural heritage.

Cultural gems nearby

In the surrounding area, there are several historic sites to explore. Rosendalsstugan is a well-preserved retirement cottage from the late 18th century, surrounded by meadows and traditional wooden fencing. It offers a glimpse into how older generations lived after handing over the farm to their children.

A short distance away lies Klockebo Mill, beautifully situated by the so-called Troll Stream – an unusual watercourse that flows north. In folklore, north-flowing water was believed to have special powers. The mill was in operation for over a hundred years and ground its last grain in 1927.

Swimming and motorhome parking

For those who want to combine culture with relaxation, Sandvik’s bathing area is a great option. Next to the church, there are also motorhome parking spaces, making it easy to stay longer and explore the area at your own pace.
