Träslottet, Tullportsgatan 11

It was after the city fire in 1777 that this large log house was built, originally as an inn. At that time it was located on what is now Södra torget - but when the Stadshotellet was built, Träslottet was moved to its current location.

The building is built in a U-shape and bears typical features of the time. Look especially at the oval windows with small roofs above - an architectural detail that recurs on several older houses in Kristinehamn.

Today, the building houses a restaurant, offices and apartments - but it still has the feeling of being a place where people meet and pass, just like before.

The walk now goes along Tullportsgatan back towards Resecentrum. But feel free to take a detour, sit down for a while, or peek into one of the shops or cafés that line the city's historic buildings. You're not just walking in footsteps - you're walking through living history.
