Klosstjärnsberget, Naturreservat

Klosstjärnsberget is a small natural forest area with high natural values.

The area is characterized by spruce-clad heights with relatively high precipitation.

The Klosstjärnsberget nature reserve was established to preserve an old spruce-dominated natural forest with old rough-barked trees, dying and dead trees and dead wood.

Within five kilometers of Klosstjärnsberget are the Dundern, Ivana, Gartosofta, Mammasberg, Heinaho and Soienmägg nature reserves.

Animals and plants

The stable environment with high and even humidity means that many rare and endangered species are found here. The natural values are almost entirely linked to old, often late-growing spruce and old deciduous trees. There are also old trees and various types of dead wood. The reserve is home to the Norwegian beak lichen, old spruce bark lichen and yarn lichen, among others.

Preserving the old natural forest also benefits bird species that require old forest and dead trees.
