Beskrivelse
Lake Jerttalompolo is best known for its nesting smews. They live in nest boxes that have been arranged along the shoreline and on the island in the middle of the lake. Approach carefully near the shore if you want to see them; they are extremely timid and easily scared. The forest around the lake is easily hiked. There is also a stream – Jerttajoki – with surrounding mires. The area is 0.7 square kilometres. Note that snowmobiles are banned, and it is forbidden to light a fire. For part of the year it is also forbidden to hunt grouse and fish with a net. Contact the County Administrative Board website for more information.

Parkering
There is a little car park close to the road that passes south of the nature reserve. From the car park a trail leads as far as the lake.

Jerttalompolo lies about 1 kilometre northwest of Dokkas. The reserve is most easily reached from road 394 towards Ullatti and Tärendö. The south part of the reserve here reaches as far as the road where you are close to several of the finest parts of the area.

Jerttalompolo is located about 1 kilometer northeast of Dokkas. The reserve is most easily reached from road 394 towards Ullatti and Tärendö. The southern part of the reserve runs right up to the road and you are close to several of the area's most beautiful parts.
Regler
All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:
- camping
- hiking
- picking berries and edible mushrooms
Please note that in Jerttalompolo it is not allowed to:
- drive snowmobiles
- make fires
- hunting birds or fishing with nets during certain times of the year.
The regulations are designed to protect the sensitive birdlife around the lake. It is not allowed to harm plant and animal life. Remember the right of public access and protect nature!
