Beskrivelse

Most of the forest on Lingatjärnsberget consists of really old pine forest and mixed coniferous forest on lean, swollen soils. The forest is sparse and patchy, with elements of old deciduous trees, and there are plenty of pines of 250 years and older. The area has largely escaped modern forestry and therefore there are plenty of old and late-growing trees, a wide age range of trees and dead wood in various forms. All this means that there are good conditions for many threatened species to live here.

High natural values in the pine forest

The most important natural values are linked to the old pine forest. Here and there are traces of previous forest fires, but it has been a long time since the last fire in the area. The pine forest is home to the red-listed species raggbok and pine tick, among others. In other parts where the soil is more fertile, old spruce forest grows.

The spruce forest has plenty of dead wood in various stages of decomposition, and many species worthy of protection can be found here, such as aspen yellow lichen, wrinkled skin, rose thistle and starry thistle.

By giving the forest on Lingatjärnsberget long-term protection as a nature reserve, it will remain there for future generations. The decision also helps to meet the environmental quality objective of Living Forests.

Rutevejledning

Lingatjärnsberget is located 12 kilometers southwest of Hudiksvall. The area is most easily reached from the road that runs southeast of the reserve. Parking is available at the crossroads. From there it is a flat slope up to the reserve boundary which is about 300 meters from the road. The reserve is only used to a small extent for outdoor activities. However, the area is a nice hiking area with a wilderness feel, and from the mountain peaks you have a fantastic view of Storsjön and Forsabygden.
