Beskrivelse
The nature reserve is 200 ha in size and consists mainly of older coniferous forest, but with elements of mire and moist deciduous forests.
Large parts of the forest have a primeval forest-like character. The many fire stumps are evidence of forest fires that have occurred over the years. The abundance of dead wood in various forms provides conditions for many unusual and protected species. Botanists can also find exciting plants such as torta, wood sorrel, soapwort and coral root.
It is a very hilly area with a great wilderness character. There are plenty of berries and mushrooms but no facilities for outdoor recreation. You must find your own way with a map and compass.
The exotic name is said to come from the fact that the cows roamed (walked) around in the forest and grazed. So it is important to emphasize correctly!

Regler
In the reserve it is not allowed to...
- damage growing or dead - standing or fallen - trees and bushes
- drive a motorized vehicle on the terrain, both bare ground and snow-covered ground.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is also not permitted to:
- hold or conduct competitions, camps and other major or recurring organized events.
- dig up plants, pick mosses, lichens and wood-living fungi or collect animals (such as insects).
